Cindy Cranswick

(B.Couns, M.Phil, MACA, MCOS)

I am a registered counsellor (Level 4 ACA #7712) and a member of the College of Clinical Supervisors. I provide confidential counselling for individuals, couples and families who are experiencing challenges in their lives.  I will provide you with a safe, understanding, and supportive environment to share your concerns openly and confidently.

I believe we are all unique individuals and in order to meet individual therapy needs I use an integrated, holistic approach drawn from a number of different modalities including; ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), Attachment Theory, Compassion Focused Therapies, EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), Schema Therapy and Family Systems Therapy.

I have a special interest in maternal and paternal Perinatal Depression and Anxiety (PNDA) as I believe if we can support parents more effectively we can make a difference in the lives of the children we bring into this world. As part of my Master of Philosophy degree, I researched “The role and meaning of self-compassion in the lives of women who experience perinatal anxiety and or depression”. https://cindycranswick.academia.edu/research. The findings from this research and recent research on the neurobiology of PNDA and Compassion, have inspired me to incorporate compassion-focused therapies in all my work with individuals, couples, and families.

Self-compassionate Motherhood

As a result of my research, which was completed in 2017, I wrote a book for mothers and those who work with mothers called “Self-compassionate Motherhood”.
